What Is DesignCap?

DesignCap is a beautiful tool created to assist you with your graphic design needs. It's for anyone who wants to make eye-catching digital graphics without learning the complexities of the process.

The best thing about this graphics software is that it does not require a degree to use. It's suitable for newbies or those with basic content requirements.

The DesignCap app features a fantastic variety of gorgeous themes with easily customizable parts. You can produce social media graphics, visual-heavy reports, resumes, and various other digital products with little effort. Don't be concerned about the learning curve; you'll be a DesignCap expert in no time.

DesignCap is the brainchild of PearlMountain, a 15-year-old East Asian software company. It has released plenty of graphic and multimedia products for Windows and macOS and a few web-based programs.

The DesignCap online software is intended for inexperienced users. It may require a paid subscription to unlock all its features, but it can be more cost-effective than a professional graphic designer.

For additional information, read our DesignCap review.

Features of DesignCap

This cloud-based application includes many customizing possibilities that will not overwhelm a beginner graphic designer.

What you may expect from the DesignCap app is as follows:

Browser Compatibility Across the Board

This graphic design software is compatible with major web browsers for Windows, macOS, and Linux. PearlMountain recommends the following platforms and versions for the best experience:

  • Chrome 4.0 or above is required.
  • Safari 7.0 or later is required.
  • Mozilla Firefox 10.0 or later
  • Internet Explorer 10.0 or above is required.

Categories

The digital assets are divided into four categories: marketing, event, document, and social media graphic. Each category allows you to select a DesignCap template appropriate for your project.

This software has developed a name for itself as a fantastic professional poster design tool. However, it is a more versatile builder.

Here are some examples of what you can do in each category:

Marketing

  • Brochures
  • Business cards
  • Charts
  • Facebook ads
  • Flyers
  • Infographics
  • Leaderboards
  • Logos
  • Menus
  • Posters

Event

  • Cards
  • Invitations

Documents

  • Presentations
  • Reports
  • Resumes
  • Schedules

Social Media Graphic

Even if you only sign up for the DesignCap free plan, you can use the software's stock materials and distribute your designs for business purposes. Because designing a logo, brochure, flyer, menu, infographic, or poster can be costly, this is a fantastic alternative for people on a small budget.

You won't have to worry about dimensions if you choose the proper template type for your project. Unfortunately, however, DesignCap's designs are digital asset-specific. As a result, there's no assurance that if you like a DesignCap poster template, you'll discover a similar one for other types of graphical objects. It's unfortunate, and one of the things we'd change about this graphics software is that it doesn't associate designs with specific digital assets.

Templates

Every template has been expertly designed. You can adjust practically every detail, but they don't usually require it. You can select one, rapidly edit the text, and click “publish.”

It won't take long if your favorite template requires additional tweaks to reflect your business identity.

As of this writing, you can choose from 3,092 templates, 57 of which are regarding coronaviruses.

You can, however, start with a blank canvas instead of tweaking professional-grade templates. Here's how it works:

  • Select a DesignCap template.
  • Add a new page.
  • Delete the pre-made design page.
  • Begin by creating from the ground up.

Elements

You can add the following to the DesignCap poster maker:

  • lines
  • arrows
  • frame masks
  • basic
  • abstract and miscellaneous shapes
  • badges
  • speech bubbles
  • hand drawings
  • vintage and modern decorations

Photos

DesignCap provides an extensive database of digital photographs. You can add a picture to your project and layer it to appear above or below the other design elements.

Similarly, you can flip the image horizontally or vertically, rotate it right or left, change the filters, add an effect, etc.

Uploads

You can upload your image if you can't find one you like in the software's photo reservoir. You can navigate your computer's disks or drag and drop files. However, you are only permitted to use JPG and PNG images.

You can only keep and upload a certain number of photographs depending on your plan.

Fortunately, we learned about a solution for this restriction from DesignCap user evaluations. Every image you add to the canvas from your collection makes a duplicate. So, to free up space on the DesignCap server, erase its source material. Then, because the copy remains in place, you can upload and use more photographs without exceeding the limit.

Charts

You can add eye-catching visuals to your reports and slide presentations using line, column, bar, table, pie, and area charts.

You can also use world, continental, regional, and national maps in your documents to provide insights into a geographical context.

Map Editor

With this built-in tool, you may adjust the border settings and pick between solid and gradient map colors. Its spreadsheet, however, is limited to four rows. Furthermore, you cannot add more cells than the number of administrative divisions in your chosen country or region.

However, while writing our DesignCap review, we observed that not all United Nations-recognized countries were represented.

We were perplexed by the absence of some globally recognized sovereign states. Stranger still, maps of significant autonomous territories such as Hong Kong, Macao, Faroe Islands, Greenland, Guam, Puerto Rico, and contentious countries like Taiwan and Kosovo are available.

Another thing that surprised us was how wrong the map of Oceania is. This geographical region should be divided into four sub-regions: Australasia, Melanesia, Micronesia, and Polynesia. Unfortunately, DesignCap's Oceania version barely covers Melanesia, fails to represent Micronesia adequately, and largely overlooks Polynesia.

We couldn't even find a map of the Middle East. However, because of the existence of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations, the software has a dedicated one for Southeast Asia. The Arab League, on the other hand, has the same validity as a regional intergovernmental organization.

This, we hope, will change in the near future. Don't forget to keep an eye on our DesignCap review for updates – we'll be looking for any new features.

Text

This feature allows you to input text blocks. In addition, you don't have to modify the text size manually because of the heading, subheading, and body text options.

You can also select from pre-formatted, prepared snippets that you can change to customize your message.

Fonts

DesignCap includes a variety of computer fonts, allowing you to be as creative with your writing as you desire.

You may be able to upload your fonts as a premium subscriber. However, you must sign up for a greater plan than DesignCap Basic.

Modules

This tool includes dozens of modules that mix various aspects to form cohesive unique components. Icons with text, photos with snippets, timelines, and SWOT analysis charts are just a few examples.

If you pick a paid subscription, you will access the software's whole module repository. However, there are various free DesignCap materials accessible for use.

Alignment with Guidance

DesignCap makes block alignment appear seamless. For example, grids show you where the canvas's center is when you drag any movable design element. This ensures that there is enough space between two blocks.

Background Designs

If you like a template but want a unique look, you can change its background. You can choose from a massive array of solid and gradient colors, stylish patterns, and high-resolution images.

Undo/Redo

This design software tracks every change you make. You can easily undo or redo an action with a single click, like on a typical text processor. DesignCap supports shortcut keys too.

Presentation Playback

DesignCap also functions as presentation software, so it has playback capability. This means you don't have to export your slide presentations.

Next to the Download button at the header is the Present button with an icon similar to YouTube's logo. Click that and then choose from 12 transition effects before hitting the Play button.

You can use its built-in laser pointer to aid your discussion. It also has refresh, next, back, and escape functions. Those options disappear when the laser pointer is in action, but you can use your computer keyboard.

No Watermarking

Watermarking is referenced in several DesignCap user reviews. This, however, was recently removed. So, yes, you read that correctly: your design will be free of watermarks.

Non-paying users have to accept watermarked output as a trade-off. When you click on any item marked with a jewel icon, the system will prompt you to upgrade your plan.

However, DesignCap's domain name appears in a few layouts. Don't worry; you can eliminate the block.

Generous Project Storage

You can export as many digital assets as you wish as a free user. However, you can only store up to five projects at once.

If you reach your limit, you'll have to delete specific designs to create room, and you won't be able to change those designs again.

You may conveniently boost your account's storage capacity by 1,900% if you upgrade to DesignCap Basic and 19,900% if you subscribe to DesignCap Plus. You'll find out more about the differences between free and premium options in a moment.

Options for Export

You can save it as a JPG, PNG, or PDF file when you're finished with a design project. You can also print it, email it, or share it on Facebook, Twitter, or Tumblr.

When you post your work on social media, you can make it public, editable by other DesignCap users, or private.

Use of DesignCap in Social Media

According to DesignCap reviews, users mostly rely on the program for their social networking needs. Excellent suggestion – with the tool, you can:

Facebook Ads

DesignCap may serve as your personal Facebook ad creator. Each of its 41 templates adheres to the standard shared image link size of 1,200 x 628 pixels set by the social network.

Despite some templates' limited product- or service-specific designs, there are plenty of templates that you can customize to meet your project.

Facebook Covers

You have a choice of 162 attractive Facebook cover samples. Each one is within the platform's image size parameters, with dimensions of 851 x 315 pixels.

Facebook Posts

You can make and share promotional images with widths and heights of 940 and 788 pixels, respectively. In addition, you have a choice of 165 templates. As part of the test for our DesignCap review, we attempted a few, generating some pretty cool designs.

Instagram Posts

By utilizing the tool's 262 template library, you can cut through the clutter. Each design, measuring 1080 pixels by 1080 pixels, can help you stand out in the feed of distracted Instagrammers.

Instagram Stories

You can submit original photos and create up to 98 Instagram story styles if you choose one of the paid subscriptions. However, you may produce some fantastic stories even as a free user.

Pinterest Graphics

With 30 patterns available, you may create exciting boards to attract more followers and keep them connected to your page. All of them are 735 pixels wide by 1102 pixels long.

Tumblr Banners

Although DesignCap only has 15 Tumblr banner templates, each of them meets the platform's specified picture size of 3000 x 1055 pixels. Tumblr isn't the most popular social networking channel right now, according to most DesignCap assessments, but it's a fantastic alternative to have.

Twitter Headers

Each of the software's 1500-by-500-pixel header layouts meets the Twitter photo size standards. However, half of the 46 designs are only available by subscribing to a subscription plan.

YouTube Channel Art

The graphics software has 184 templates, but it also ensures that each of its designs is 2560 × 1440 pixels in size. As a result, your YouTube channel art looks fantastic on all devices.

YouTube Thumbnails

If you don't want to capture a screenshot of your video for this purpose, DesignCap has 86 thumbnail templates. They are 1280 x 720 pixels wide, which is twice the minimum width requirement.

Ease of Use for DesignCap

DesignCap is straightforward software. We had no problems while testing it for this DesignCap assessment.

Its sign-up process is quick and easy. You can register using your Facebook or Google account if you're logged in to your computer.

To determine which features you might find most useful, the software will ask you about the type of company you belong to and your job within it.

After registering, you can move directly to the editor. If you want to explore the site further, you can start a project right now by choosing the Get Started option on either the Categories or Templates pages.

The editing process is simple, mainly if you utilize DesignCap online for free. The editor features a toolbar on the right side that contains all of the elements you can add to the canvas. In addition, a collection of comparable templates is always displayed, allowing you to switch designs on the fly.

Click the block of any design element you want to edit on the canvas. The customization options available vary, but the Page Alignment, Layer, Duplicate and Delete symbols remain constant.

Small Add Page, Duplicate Page, and Delete Page icons are located to the right of the canvas. There's also a floating bar that displays the size of the digital object, as well as zoom in and zooms out controls.

You can find the support icon in the lower-right area of the screen. The export choices, as well as your profile's icon, are always visible in the header.

The account administration dashboard ensures easy navigation with only three tabs to choose from. DesignCap also supports eight languages and takes credit cards from the four major credit card networks.

Its user interface's straightforward, familiar design makes it a delight to use. According to DesignCap user reviews, the editor occasionally takes a long time to load, but its usability was not frustrating.

Pricing for DesignCap

So, if you're wondering if DesignCap is free, we've got some good news for you. You can use it for free.

Basic and Plus are the two priced programs. Neither offers a free trial, but both provide a 7-day money-back guarantee. If you can cancel the service within a week of purchasing it, you may be eligible for a full refund.

Every plan includes the following:

Free

$0.00

Limited DesignCap template access, limited stock media selection, a maximum of 5 picture uploads, storage for up to 5 designs, and JPG outputs are among the features.

Basic

$4.99 per month (annual subscription)

Monthly payment at $8.99 includes unlimited DesignCap template access, unlimited access to stock icons, unlimited access to modules, higher resolution PNG and PDF exports, a maximum of 100 image uploads, and storage for up to 100 designs.

Plus

$5.99 per month (annual subscription)

Monthly payment at $12.99 includes unlimited DesignCap template access, unlimited stock icon access, unlimited module access, PNG and PDF exports with higher resolutions, the opportunity to add fonts, a maximum of 1,000 image uploads, and storage for up to 1,000 designs.

The software's pricing is frequently mentioned in DesignCap user evaluations. Even the prices of its paid plans are reasonable. If you choose an annual billing option, you can save up to 50% on the cost. You might save even more if you use a valid coupon. The only method to stop auto-renewal is to cancel your premium plan.

If you want to keep your premium account and upgrade to a higher plan, you must manually upgrade your subscription. You can do this during your term without being charged twice. PearlMountain allows you to lower the cost of your upgrade by utilizing the unused portion of your initial plan.

However, when you downgrade, you don't have the same level of options. Moving from DesignCap Plus to Basic is still prohibited by the company. Before you may sign up for the lesser plan, you must first complete an ongoing membership.

If you cancel a paid subscription after seven days, you will still have access to the premium features. You can keep using them till the current term expires.

DesignCap Review – Final Thoughts

We couldn't think of why you wouldn't like DesignCap.

Aside from its irritating maps, the rest of the game's flaws are tolerable. Some consumers may be disappointed by the lack of a free trial time for its premium version, but it does feature an adequate money-back guarantee period.

There is no safety net after the first seven days, but it is inexpensive. Therefore, changing your mind after agreeing to annual billing would not be as detrimental as most other graphic design software subscriptions.

Its free version is functional. With no credit card required, there is no risk and only gain. We encourage you to sign up for an account and try it out! You'll be happy you did.
